We recently welcomed Roan, a Year 12 student from Saint Bartholomew’s School in Oxfordshire, to join us for a week of work experience. Local to our Kidlington office, and a keen chemistry and physics student, Roan was mentored by our resident physics graduate and Dyne Testing Sales Specialist, Conor. He also spent time with different departments across the business.

Throughout the week, Roan spent time learning both the commercial and operational sides of the business, which included assembling robotic systems, CAD and 3D printing with our Engineering team. He explored topics such as surface tension, application processes, and dispensing systems, as well as getting involved in practical sessions in our Technology Centre where he designed and ran his own experiment.

On his final day, Roan prepared and delivered a presentation summarising his experience, covering the challenges and triumphs from his week.

Reflecting on the experience, Roan said:

“I really enjoyed my time with you all—the experience was very well structured, with a full timetable of events. I appreciated the opportunity to experience all of the departments and felt included in every aspect throughout the week. It was great to be involved in the practical side of things, and I came away with a clearer understanding of how my interest in science can be applied in the workplace. It was such a valuable and enjoyable week!”

HR Manager, Annie Dickerson, who organises our work experience programme, commented:

“I wanted to design a week for Roan that would not only show how an interest in STEM subjects can be applied in the workplace but also give him a real sense of how an SME operates—and how varied and exciting the work can be. The week was a huge success, thanks to Roan’s enthusiasm and willingness to get involved, and to the effort my colleagues put into creating a truly valuable and enjoyable experience.”

We remain committed to supporting our community and chosen charities and wish Roan every success in his studies and future career.
